Projects

Everything is organised into projects. Each project holds its calculation reports. Start from the Projects screen and create a project per job or building.

Reports & the canvas

Open a report to reach the drag-and-drop canvas. Add blocks — project info, calculators, notes, diagrams — and they stack into a submission-ready document.

Calculators

15 Eurocode calculators (steel, concrete, timber, geotechnical, wind, hoarding and more). Each prints clause-referenced working and pass/fail design checks.

Design register

A running index of every calculation across your projects, so you can find and audit past work quickly.

Exporting

Every report exports to a letterheaded PDF (via Print → Save as PDF) or a Word document — with your company details on the cover.

Quick tools

The Tools page has standalone unit converters and quick engineering helpers that don't need a full report.

📋 How to create your first report

Five steps from a blank screen to a finished, letterheaded calculation report.

Create a project

On the Projects screen click New Project and give it a name — usually the job or building.

Add a new report

Open the project and click New Report. This opens the drag-and-drop canvas.

Add your company details

Drop in a Project Information block and fill in your company name, address and contact details — this becomes the report letterhead.

Add calculators

Add calculation blocks (beam, column, footing, wind, hoarding…). Enter your inputs and press Calculate — each block shows the working, diagrams and design checks.

Preview & export

Open Preview to see the finished A4 report, then Print / Save as PDF or Export Word.

Is BuildMetrics really free?
Yes — every calculator, the full report builder and unlimited PDF & Word exports are free, with no subscription and no per-report fee.
Can I put my company letterhead on reports?
Yes. Add a Project Information block and enter your company name, address and contact details — they appear on the cover and footer of every report.
Which standards do the calculators use?
The Eurocodes with the UK National Annex (EC0–EC7), plus TWf2012 for hoarding and BS 8666 for bar scheduling. Every result prints its clause reference.
Are the calculations checked?
The app is a calculation tool. Every report states that a qualified engineer must independently verify the results before use for construction — the engineer of record retains design responsibility.
I can't sign in / forgot my password
Use Forgot password on the sign-in page. If you signed up with Google, use Continue with Google — Google accounts have no separate password to reset.
